New CACA member Dan Rietz from Cameron Park prepares his
bird for an early Saturday morning sortie. |
The coolest commute vehicle: the Silver Eagle. |
Bob Dieterich and his turbo-charged cam on steroids. |
Tooling around Shasta at 13,800' while listening to jazz and
the distant murmur of a turboprop in the nose. |
Editor Jeremy Lezin stands next to Chiquita in the early
morning sun, ready to launch. |
Neighbor and pilot Dick Eyeman rode shotgun for our trip
around the Shasta area. He and his lovely wife served a corned beef
dinner that would make an Irishman green with envy. |
New CACA member Joe Perez from Sonoma (NOT Napa!), standing
next to Steve Hardie's plane. |
Paul in Red Bird. |
Pilot and CACA veteran Paul Redhead flew down from Eugene in
his Red Bird. |
Jeremy in Chiquita. |
Steve Hardie, confused about the Air Cam fueling procedure.
Steve also brought along the coolest toy of the trip: a Silver Eagle (Cessna
P210 pulled by a Rolls Royce turboprop). Yeeha! |
This lenticular cloud rolling off of Mount Shasta was a hint
that perhaps our CACA group should fly elsewhere. A plane with a wing
loading of 5 pounds/foot is no match for a lenticular! |
Dan catches the early morning light over Shastina Lake. |
Early morning lake shot |
Bob's plane from down under. "Look ma, nothing inside
the wings." |
The motley crew, assembled before launch. |
The group taxies out of Trinity Center for an intended
flight around Mount Shasta. |

Ah yes, it was tough, enjoying the pontoon boat out on the
lake. CACA thanks Ed and Julie Bogner for making all of this possible. |
